If you are not able to get your receipts stamped at a customs office at your European airport of departure, you can do two things:
1. Go to the customs office at your non-EU airport of arrival
At your non-EU airport of arrival, you can:
a. go to the customs office where you can 'declare your goods'. These offices are located between the bagage claim belts and the exit.
b. go to a customs office after the exit. Customs offices are often located in departure halls close to check in. Ask an airport employee to point you in the right direction.
Please note; if there is no date included in the stamp, please ask the customs official providing the stamp to write the date of entry with a signature next to the stamp.
2. Call the customs office 24/7 helpline
Customs officers are usually present at the airport 24/7. Often, if the customs office is closed, you will be able to call customs by phone, 15 minutes in advance, after which a customs officer will come down to the office to stamp your receipts. These telephone numbers are usually listed on the customs desk window or counter. If you think you will be at the airport before or after customs opening hours, we advise you to contact the airport a day before your departure. Ask them if there is a 24/7 customs service available. If yes, ask if they can provide the telephone number/location of this service.
